This project all started on a dark October evening after a mundane day at work, sometime in the middle of the week. After scavenging through a box of wood scraps, I found a single and rather thin strip of Mahogany. I challenged myself to come up with a project that would include this otherwise useless piece of wood. Some time before that, I had purchased a few thin Pear wood strips for whatever reason I could think of at the time, which were when put next to each other, the same exact size in height as the Mahogany strip. It was like the universe whispered to me that these pieces of wood needed to go together. So then, I followed my intuition and cut the Mahogany in to two “identical” pieces. Following up with the Pear strips, and glued them together. —Now it is time to figure out where, and in what project this three layered piece belongs..
During this project (or rather I paused this project because) I have decided to purchase a bandsaw, in order to progress my woodworking capabilities further, and speed things along. You can read about the bandsaw project here, where I even make a few upgrades to it. I am beyond excited to use it!

After assembling the new bandsaw, and contemplating for hours split among many days, I finally came with an idea where this piece might be useful for. So naturally, I glued more pieces of wood to it, and the wood I settled on was beech. And so the workpiece started to expand in size, and also in possibilities of outcome, of what it could become.
Not that I had much choice in the matter regarding the choice of wood. Because you see, this was a scrap-wood project, much like the hnefatafl board that I made back in 2019. It just so happened that the beech was also very similar in size and thickness to the already sawn mahogany and pear sandwich.
After sawing all the wood to size and gluing them together in to two squares, came a lot of sanding. Once I was somewhat happy with the thickness (when comparing them to one another,) two circles were drawn to represent where to saw. I then took the two squares over to my bandsaw and cut them close to there final circulair shape. —More pictures and writing is being worked on.
